ONCE in a while, even the most experienced and serial entrepreneur will also feel like packing it in, give it all up and just sailing into the sunset, free from all the encumbrances and drudgery of being a business owner. There is no time that this feeling cannot come up, either at the beginning of an enterprise or in the middle of the race, it may when road become rough or even when the ovation is loudest.

Background
ONCE in a while, even the most experienced and serial entrepreneur will also feel like packing it in, give it all up and just sailing into the sunset, free from all the encumbrances and drudgery of being a business owner. There is no time that this feeling cannot come up, either at the beginning of an enterprise or in the middle of the race, it may when road become rough or even when the ovation is loudest. Devotion is about not giving up despite odds that are stacked against you but there are times when you will truly feel like throwing in the towel. These are time when you feel that you have had enough bashing and bruising and you want out, by the time you start having this feeling trust me there is light in the horizon.

Navigate the conundrum
There are numerous things that may make you feel like giving up but the most frequent reason, are fear, doubt and failure. Fear about not been able measure up to other who has taken other route and far ahead of you despite the fact that you have not taken the crocked route. Even if their route is straight, narrow and full of potholes like yours, that they are ahead of you may make you feel like being left behind; you may feel that your own effort is not yielding the fruit that is commensurate to your hard-work. You should not cave in easily if you understand that you are not into any enterprises in other to compete with anyone but yourself. You are in your own marathon race, those who are passing you by may have started earlier or had just rejuvenated after going through a dark patch in their journey, fear not if your pace is slaking for now and the wind is blazing your face, it will soon be behind you and aiding you from behind by pushing you in such a manner that you will be gliding over the different obstacle in your way.

Bell the Cat
Doubts look inward into one capability while fear deal with outward influences, some of the thing that causes doubt include incessant soul searching about how well one is doing on the journey. Whenever you encounter any difficulty there will always be a thought from your subconscious telling you that you better pack it in, you need not to pack it as long as you can see the prospect in making it through. Even, if there is no doubt some external influence will prompt you to give up and try something, else but remember whatever you will need to delve into again you will need to start all over,  but with what you have, you are already a veteran. Constant shifting of goal post in the middle of a game is part of opposing factor or hurdles on your way, whenever it rears its ugly head, then you need to be more committed, caring, loving and hard working in order to correct any mistake made. If you do this after having doubts a couple of time, it will find it hard to return to hunt you again.

Cast away the Albatross
Failure is nothing but a path to the castle of success its next door neighbor, you can get there if you did not allow yourself to get stuck in the murky water of “Failure Street”. A notorious street that is litter with Bobby traps meant to either  hold you back, divert your attention or make you  get stuck in just one place, how you navigate and escape this street depend on your tenacity, desire, devotion, discipline and the way you perceive failure. If you see failure as a set back then you can only be held back for a while for you to re-examine how you got into that position and then plan on how to get out of it. Show me a successful man and I will bet you that man has bagful of setback, big enough to weigh him down but he never carry any along like an albatross.
Do not worry yourself to death about the problem you are facing right now, proffer solution to it and understand what, why and how you get into the present situation in order to stall a reoccurrence. If you see failure as a “master” you may decide to abandon ship or get stuck in the mucky water of “Failure Street” then you may be doomed,  do not give up, be devoted, gird your loins and braze up for the remain  leg of the marathon.

Action Point
There is no better time to move closer to your peers than now, it will be easier to draw inspiration from them and learn about the good practices existing in their organization that you may be able to adapt to your own organization’s needs.
Reach out to a mentor that will teach you the ropes, you never know they may have had similar experience in the past.
Be prepared for gloomy days, there will be downturn in fortunes at some point in time but having strategies in place will define how ready you will be to withstand the known and unknown challenges.
