Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, governor of Delta State, has assured the people of the state that the Asaba cargo airport under construction will be completed next year, even as he said the construction for the second runway of Osubi Airstrip had already started.
Uduaghan who made this remark while meeting with the Urhobo Political Forum (UPF) recently in Warri said work at the site for the runway is presently going on. He said to encourage investors his administration has embarked on the construction of dual-carriage way in the state city roads as well as the independent power plant for enhanced electricity which he termed “mega projects,” just as he further said his administration embarked on mega projects because it believed the future of the state will not depend entirely on oil and government projects.
Uduaghan also revealed that next year, Marcopolo buses would be introduced into the public transport system of the state, even as he said the taxis and 18-seater buses introduced into the intra-city transport was to make life easy for the common man in the street. He also assured ex-militants who dropped their guns that the state is planning a programme for all the youths in the state adding that the gesture will be extended to them too.
