LINKSERVE, Nigeria’s pioneering and premiere Internet Service Provider (ISP), has announced a recapitalization exercise with Global Plus Communications Limited (GPC) and subsequent ceding of 30 per cent equity of Linkserve to GPC.
The investment in equity in the company is led by a group of investors under the investment vehicle of Global Plus Communications Limited, an international group with local presence in Nigeria.
BusinessWorld Intelligence revealed that Linkserve has been unable to operate optimally due to some financial difficult it has been facing in the last few years.
Mr. Chima Onyekwere, chairman of the company, explained that Linkserve is set to firmly establish itself as the leading ISP in Nigeria and that the company’s commitment to internet and broadband development in the country is unflagging.
The investment, Onyekwere said, will enable Linkserve to seek for credible partners to purchase Broadband Wireless License in the region and deploy the totally underserved Nigerian market with an affordable and reliable broadband internet.
“Our vision of a Nigeria without boundaries or limitations when it comes to internet access is our driving force,” he said. “As soon as we receive the necessary clearance and approvals from regulatory authorities, we will unveil new products which are guaranteed to change the way Nigerians access data.”
Linkserve, since its inception in 1996, has pioneered internet in Nigeria and has multiple satellite hubs dedicated to serving the African market with broadband internet, data service and video streaming. The company’s data services are very popular among corporate organisations.
Onyekwere said his company has a longstanding relationship with leading satellite equipment and service providers in order to provide superior satellite technologies in African.
