THIS new Peak Milk advert has been running for some time now but that should not make any question on the campaign irrelevant.
In this TVC, where Peak is apparently targeting low income buyers who may not afford the cost of a tin of milk or the convenience of storing an unfinished tin, informs that “Peak tin milk is now in a sachet.”
Very simple copy that even a nosy writer like me should not have any problems with. But having watched the ad over and over and having seen the outdoor versions, I got curious when it occurred to me that Peak was trying to draw a difference between its tin milk and the powered variant. We know Peak has its powdered milk in tins as well as sachets. So what is the point saying the “tin” milk is now in a sachet. Is Peak’s “liquid” cream milk hitherto found only in tins known with the generic name “tin milk?” What about the powdered milk that is found in tins? Or is milk a tin milk when it is cream?
I doubt if I was able to structure my question well enough to be understood. I also get worried that Peak was sounding desperately reassuring in the ad and this is usually not good for the introduction of a new product line, even if the brand is an established one.
