The Imo State Investment Council (ISIC), organizers of the forthcoming Imo State Investment Summit were in Washington D.C, USA last week to woo investors to the summit which holds in Owerri in early June.
Tagged “Global Investment Opportunities in The Heart of Africa,” Mr. Chuks Chukwuemeka, special adviser to the governor of Imo State, said the summit presents investors with unique opportunities for investments in the following areas of particular interest to the state: Infrastructure & Utilities, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Tourism, and Human Capital Development.
According to him, to support the quick achievement of the investment goals, the government re-constituted the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency to better position the agency to create the right investment climate in Imo and support investors to succeed; thereby achieving the resultant creation of jobs and wealth for the Imo citizens.
He stated that the agency has identified priority sectors, identified Imo’s area of competitive advantage, niche markets, opportunities and strategies that will be showcased in details during the summit.
On why American-based investors should invest in Imo State, he pointed out that the state government has provided huge incentives to augment those from federal government as well as instituted investment support mechanisms to aid faster evaluation of opportunities, ease investment decision making, and support investors’ businesses.
According to him, Imo enjoys political stability which is a critical contributor to investment climate as the state’s ‘Operation Festival’ initiative has greatly improved Security of lives and properties.
