IN a spectacular match day frenzy typical of the world cup finals, Destination South Africa Promotion by DHL Nigeria came to a dramatic grand finale. After 6 months of a build up that saw 30 winners emerged via electronic draw, Mr. Tarkumbur Philip, a 35 years old civil servant from Markurdi, Benue State emerged as the winner of the mega prize of an all-expense paid trip to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Assisted by other dignitaries at the event in Lagos, the draw was performed by Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Development, represented by Hon. Agboola Dabiri, Chairman, Lagos Sports Council.
The winner, Mr. Tarkumbur Philip, emerged after being drawn within the rules of the promotion. In his reaction, he said he was excited about being the mega prize winner of the promotion.
“I feel so happy about this. I do not believe normally in promotions and have never participated nor won in any promotion in the past. However, I decided to try in the DHL Destination South Africa Promo and entered. This is really unbelievable and my wife and I are still celebrating now”, says an elated Tarkumbur Philip. He commended DHL for being transparent in fulfilling its promise, stressing that their commitment to rewarding loyal customers will further convince more Nigerians to participate in promotions and patronize their services even more in the future.
Speaking at the draw ceremony, Mr. Michael Druce, Managing Director, DHL Nigeria said the promotion provided DHL with an auspicious opportunity to live its brand promise of Excellence Simply delivered and of rewarding customer loyalty. According to Mr. Druce, “this promotion helped to further the connection with our football-loving customers across Nigeria.

He said the promotion has been thoroughly enjoyed by customers and staff alike in the build up to the World Cup in South Africa. According to him, “DHL saw in the period leading to the biggest football event in the world an opportunity to identify with our customers, reward loyalty and share in their excitement with them, giving them the opportunity to see Nigeria play live in South Africa.
