FRESH scholars from the Musical Society of Nigeria, (Muson), Onikan, who are being sponsored by the MTN Foundation (MTNF) are set to complete their programmes from the prestigious institution under the MTNF/Muson Scholars programme.
The Foundation was responsible for payment of the tuition fees and provision of money for twenty-five students under the programme, as well as transport subsidy throughout the two-year music programme.
In his speech at a ceremony held at the Muson Centre, Mr. Akinwale Goodluck, director, MTN Foundation, stated, “we are indeed happy that another set of 25 young music talents will be graduating again in a few days, and the programme is aimed at giving opportunities and support to students who are gifted with various talents but do not have the money to pursue their interest in Music.”
Goodluck said this set will bring the total number of graduating students to 74 out of the 220 students who will be trained by the Foundation in a five year period. Past grandaunts are currently pursuing higher education in prestigious music schools in South Africa and the United States of America.
Under the programme, each student undergoes a two-year musical tuition and exposure to the best local and international standards of music. Every year, the scholars hold a concert before the graduation date to showcase their talents to the world as well as show appreciation to their sponsor, MTN Foundation, and others.
