MR. Patrick Martini, head, business development of Aviat Networks, global IP Back-haul solution providers, recently pointed out that necessary logistics and local support from service providers are the needed key factors that can sustain growth in Nigeria’s telecom industry. This would boost the massive financial and technological investments in the telecom market.
Martini said, the global economic situation that presently exists makes it imperative for telecom operators to consider the availability of adequate local logistics and support that can be offered by the competing solution providers before they make their choice of network deployment. “Technology alone won’t get you where you need to go,” he said. “To be the leader in the market, the operators need the very best in logistics, support and services to actually get the full return on technology investment.”
Describing support as the most important consideration before any technology upgrade, acquisition and deployment, Martini stated that any technology solutions provider that does not have the capacity to provide the very best in logistics, support services in the Nigerian market, does not have the development of the country’s telecom sector at heart.
He noted that the length of time and evidence of what has been achieved by any solutions provider, especially within the Nigerian telecom sector, must also serve as evidence of its commitment and readiness to operate in the country.
Martini described Aviat Networks as the ‘most strategically positioned’ solutions provider for the telecom sector based on the fact that the company meets the criteria to prove their readiness in the local market. He explained that Aviat has a long standing presence in Nigeria which dates from the early era of the CDMA operators.
