2011 Elections: FG Launches Five NTA Channels in USA
To match words with action in its bid to ensure a transparent general elections in 2011, the federal government has launched five variants of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)  channels in the United States of America.
The five various channels are NTA News 24, NTA Culture, NTA Sports, NTA  Knowledge and NTA 2.
Performing the launching ceremony at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington D.C.recently,  Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Ade Adefuye said the new NTA channels in the USA is necessary to show transparency in the forthcoming elections.
Stating that there is a paradign shift in the way things are now done in Nigeria, the Ambassador said Nigerians abroad and indeed the international community are now taken into consideratoon in whatever is done in Nigeria.
According to the Ambassador, “the forth coming elections will lay the foundation for a Nigeria of our dream as President Goodluck Jonathan is committed to a very transparent election and the television channels will show what we have to offer.”
Nigeria, he said is begining to rise as the right people are now put in the right places, while urging Nigerians at home and abroad to stop underating themselves.
Nigeria should aspire to be the best five nations in the world not even best twenty as enshrined in the vision 2020, as we belong up there and can stand the best of time with the rest of the world.
In his speech at the short ceremony Mr Joseph Etuk, chief executive officer of Nigerian Television Enterprise, who stood in for the director general of the NTA said the NTA prides itself as Africa’s largest television network which is now poised to play a global role.
Stating that NTA started as just a channel in the USA and now five, Etuk said that this has become necessary because of the role the country as a global player.
Besides Washington D.C., the channels were also launched in New York and Huston.
