There are strong indications that telecom companies in the Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) sector earn about N140 billion monthly from service delivery. It was gathered that the big players which engage in prepaid, post-paid, and other value added services make a monthly turnover of about N50 billion monthly. However, the actual earning of each of the companies still remains a guarded secret.
It is believed that the revenue level of the operators will be on the increase soon as the various undersea transmission projects initiated by both Globacom and  Main One become fully operational. Telecoms operators are of the opinion that the income level will grow three-folds because more activities will be undertaken by the various major and medium operators that have been battling the difficulties arising from the level of infrastructure decay in the economy.
The major telecom operators such as MTN, Glomobile  Airtel, and Etisalat, have engaged in massive investment in infrastructure in the different parts of the country, and this has resulted in large increase in their subscriber base while the private telecom operators otherwise known as CDMA have also made remarkable progress.
Network operators’ effort to get a large market share has resulted in huge investment in the sector, with MTN, Globacom and Etisalat leading the way.
