The Yuletide season 2010 is gone and obviously the fun still lingers. It is easy to get stuck with so much food and drink. The result? That pot-belly and extra calories you have put on can affect your productivity and even attractiveness; everyone likes to look fit, you know.
As you head into the New Year, you need to be re-invigorated to resume work after the holiday.
There are facilities that have designed programmes to help you and the beauty is that they good equipment, instructors and have made their time flexible so that you can pop into their gym during your break time or after working hours to burn the high calories or get pampered in their massage palour.
Eko Hotel & Suites is not only walking a fine line between offering modern conference facilities and providing banqueting needs for individuals and corporate organizations in the country. It has also not lost sight of the need to create something to enable guests to live healthy. Guests have the option of a gymnasium, tennis courts, swimming pool, Sauna or basketball court to keep fit.
Leisure & Style visited the hotels eye-popping Eko Health & Fitness recently and discovered an array of modern gymnasium equipment and sparkling centre, apparently awaiting the gym goer.
The centre which is situated downstairs of the main building of Eko Hotel, a floor below the hotel main lobby, boasts various types of equipment like abdomen machines that firm up the stomach and flabby parts of the body, and thread mills.
“There will be influx of people in the fitness centre soon; most people want to lose the fat they have gained during the Christmas season, “says Mrs. Seyi Taiwo of Eko Health & Fitness.
“People eat all sorts of things during festive season. They need to lose weight and live happily. Until you work-out in a good gym, you will not know what you are missing. People tell us after a visit that they wake up without feeling tired.  Health is wealth”.
Taiwo urged people to avail themselves of the opportunity of visiting a gym, saying that s those that have traveled need a massage to be in top form. “Our masseuses are ready to advise you on what to do as well as give information on food regime.  We have instructors in every shift, morning and afternoon, to give you quality attention,” she said. “We have improved on our offering and will give you the best service,” she added.
The gym is open to the hotel guests and other members of the public who are registered by the hotel. It is gathered that people check in to the hotel just to have access to the state-of-the-art leisure facilities at Eko hotel.
Time to visit a gym is important so that you don’t need to spend long hours waiting to take a turn.  It is gathered that men visit more than women all year round.
Taiwo said there is no off-peak hour at Eko Hotel.
“Even during working hours, people who work in the Victoria Island, Lagos business district pop in to the gym to exercise during their break time.” She was quick to add that “Apart from Friday, the gym is usually very busy. People go out clubbing and partying after work on Fridays, so only a few visit the gym. Monday to Sunday, morning and afternoon, you see people get serious with their exercise to look well.”
