TOP members of the advertising profession in the country, recently converged in Lagos to celebrate Sir Steve Omojafor, a Fellow of the profession, on his recent appointment as Chairman, Zenith Bank, Nigeria.
Speaking at the event organised by the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria, (Apcon) and witnessed by the crème de la crème of the advertising profession, the Chairman of Apcon, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi praised the sterling qualities of Omojafor, describing him as an ad practitioner who had made practitioners in the profession proud.
While congratulating him on his new appointment, the Apcon boss charged other practitioners to ermulate the good works of Omojafor in order to move the practice to the next level.
In his remarks, the chairman, Troyka Holdings, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, expressed high regards for Omojafor whom he said had raised the bar of the profession in the country.
He chronicled the history of their early years as colleague and advertising practitioners, while describing him as a very hard Nigerian, who had been able to contribute positively to the growth of the profession in the country.
Chief Akin Odunsi, a classmate of Omojafor both of whom graduated from the University of Lagos and colleagues at Rosabel Advertising, described the new Zenith Bank Chairman, who is also Chairman of STB-McCANN ‘as a fantastic and very patient man’.
‘When we were together, we always allowed ideas to flourish. We would disagree, go home and return to reach a consensus. Chief Odunsi also praised the contributions of Omojafor as a one- time president of AAPN.
Describing the encomiums poured on him as ‘very overwhelming’, Sir Omojafor, charged practitioners to always strive to do things right.
He believed his insistence on doing things right as a member of the board of Zenith Bank, must have earned him the plum job.
Among those present at the dinner were distinguished Fellows of the advertising profession, such as: Chief Olu Falomo, Mrs Olanike Alabi , Mr. Chris Ogbechie and Dr. Jide Oluwajuyitan. Others include: Dr. Fassy Yusuf, Mr. Ayo Owoborode and the incumbent President of the Advertising Agencies’ Association of Nigeria, (AAAN), Mr. Funmi Onabolu, Mr. Uche Aligbe and many others in private and public sectors of the nation’s economy.
