JUSTICE Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi of the Lagos High Court Igbosere has further adjourned the matter between Balogun Okolo Chieftaincy family of Lagos State and Nigerian Breweries Plc to May 9, 2011 for report of settlement.

JUSTICE Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi of the Lagos High Court Igbosere has further adjourned the matter between Balogun Okolo Chieftaincy family of Lagos State and Nigerian Breweries Plc to May 9, 2011 for report of settlement.
When the matter came for hearing last Friday, the court was told by counsel to the parties that they have yet to reach acceptable terms of settlement, submitting that they are still exploring ways of settling the issues of contention in the suit. Consequent upon their submission, the counsel asked for an adjournment to enable the parties reach and agree on acceptable terms of settlement. Their request was granted.
Balogun Okolo Chieftaincy family had sued Nigerian Breweries Plc, claiming the sum of over N155 million as rent arrears and forfeiture of two leased parcels of land at Abebe Village Road, Iganmu for allegedly breaching the terms of lease agreements entered by the parties.
However, Nigerian Breweries Plc debunked the claims of the Okolo Family, contending that it pays its rent as at when due and has even paid up to 2010/2011. It denied breaching any term with regard to the two leased plots of land and urged the court to dismiss the suit.
The accredited representative of Balogun Okola Family had in their claims said that Nigerian Breweries is their tenants on two parcels of land known as plotL9 and L21 at Abebe  Village road Iganmu, Lagos, adding that the brewing giants holds two separate lease agreements which were granted to it by the claimant’s predecessors.
