Mr. Nuhu Wya, minister of state for power, last week visited facilities of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Kaduna State, where new equipment were being installed. The visits which were part of a nationwide tour aimed at speeding up work at PHCN installations were also to check the progress made on the installation of new upgraded equipment at all PHCN facilities .
While expressing hope that the 6,000 megawatts will be delivered by December, Wya, who visited the Mando Transmission Station, supervised the installation of a 60 MVA power transformer and a 132 KV breaker. He added that a 150MVA transformer was also being installed at the second PHCN facility in the state.  The minister who later left for Kano State, from where he will proceed to Katsina, Birnin Kebbi , Sokoto and Zamfara States,  said the same installation in Kaduna state is simultaneously taking place in all states across the country.
According to him, “With the level of hard work going on, I am sure that Nigeria will achieve the desired target of 6,000 megawatts.”
