DO you know who was the world’s richest man in 2008? His name is Warren Buffett and today he is the third Richest Man in the world, after Bill Gates (first) and Carlos Slim (second).
“He is the smartest stock picker in history and the wealthiest investor in the world, with a net worth of tens of billions of dollars”, writes Robert Allen in his book, Multiple Streams of Income. “What if Warren Buffett himself were to call you on the phone and give you a hot stock tip: he tells you to sink every penny into a certain stock; says that he’s invested a couple of hundred million of his own money and he feels the stock is sure bet to double or triple in value.
What would you say to him? Sorry...Would you listen to the master or continue to do things your own way?” Allen continues. Warren is so important to investing and stock market that I devoted a chapter of my book, The Billionaire Investor to him.
That chapter, entitled “World’s Greatest Investors”, lets you into the investment style of the 3rd richest man in the world. If you want to read more about the investment principles of Warren Buffett, you can get these books from me: Essays of Warren Buffett, Buffettology and the Warren Buffett Way.
According to Forbes Magazine, Buffett was worth $62 billion and $37 billion in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Warren can become your money manager if you will allow him.” Is he competent?” you may ask. I bet you he is. Why? Here is the reason: He is the master of the investment world.
Put in another way, he is the world’s greatest investor. I read about Warren Buffett the first time in 2001 in the book, “Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing”.
In that book, he took an almost dead cloth and textile company, called Berkeshire Hathaway and turned it into one of the most treasurable companies in the world.
According to “Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing”, written by Robert Kiyosaki, “if you had invested US$10,000 in the company in the 1950s, it would have been worth more than $200million today”. It appears the company’s shares is the highest priced in the world.
As at Monday, August 31 2009, Berkshire Hathaway shares traded at $99,210 (Ninety-Nine Thousand Two Hundred and Ten Dollars). Its baby shares, with Ticker Symbol BRKB traded at $3,260 (Three Thousand and Two Hundred and Sixty Dollars).
If you cannot buy the A shares of Berkshire (BRKA), you can buy the B shares (BRKB).
