THE Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has finalised plans to brainstorm on the impact and challenges of the global economic recession which has been ravaging the world economies including Nigeria. 

THE Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has finalised plans to brainstorm on the impact and challenges of the global economic recession which has been ravaging the world economies including Nigeria.
This according to the institute is aimed at diversifying the Nigerian economy and the strategies to effectively sustain it.
To this end, the institute will hold its annual lecture this week in Lagos with the theme:“Economic Diversity and Sustainability: The Challenges of the Current Global Recession” and would be addressed by Dr. Jean-Louis Ekra, president, African Export-Import Bank, Cairo, Egypt.
According Mr. Ben Igbokwe, head, Corporate Affairs, CIBN, “the Institute’s annual lecture is a public enlightenment programme organised to keep members of the public abreast of topical economic issues and policies. The lecture series had in the past attracted eminent speakers across the globe from different fields of human endeavour among whom were Mr. D. Ashanti, WAMI; Prof. John C. Anyanwu, ADB, Tunisia; Professors Dora Akunyili,former D.G. NAFDAC; Bob Osaze, Aminu Diyo Seidu; Dotun Phillips; S. O. Tomori; Femi Fajana, Claude Ake (of blessed memory); Alaba Ogunsanwo and Eddy N. Ndekwu among others.”
“It also attracts chieftains of the banking and finance industry, top public officials, foreign diplomats, the academia and top executives of the organised private sector.
Chief Achike Udenwa, minister of Commerce & Industry will be the special guest of honour while Mr. ‘Laoye J. Jaiyeola, acting president, CIBN will chair the occasion. Dr. Uju Ogubunka, registrar/chief executive will be the chief host.
