THE Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), bottlers of Coca-Cola brands has unveiled the new Ultra glass Coke bottles in Lagos. The multinational beverage bottler introduced the bottles to dealers and distributors at a recent event.
The first ever innovative Ultra glass bottles were launched in Abuja last year to replace the company’s returnable bottles. The new bottles are lightweight and easier to handle.
They are six times stronger than the current bottles that will be faced out in Lagos after four weeks.
Speaking at the launch, Regional Commercial Director Lagos, Mr. Wossenyeleh Shiferaw said that, the company repackaged the core Coca-cola brand to meet up with today’s ever changing market. “Consumers are demanding greater variety and customers want higher service levels. In this dynamic environment, we are constantly evaluating the new way we do business as we strive to achieve profitable and sustainable growth,” he stated.
Mr. Shiferaw further explained that the new ultra glass bottles were packaged to step up innovation in soft drinks packaging to bring the latest technology to the Nigerian market. According to him, “the new bottles are smaller but still contain the same content.
They are less prone to scuffing because of their improved design and shape. They will come in full depth crates to limit their chances of breakage.”
The Commercial Director noted that NBC is committed to ensuring that it continues to delight consumers with the right brand in the most appropriate package. “We have introduced a range of new packaging solutions to meet our ever changing consumer preferences. In September, we launched the new exciting and colourfully repackaged Five Alive juice brand. Recently, we re-launched the Eva table water in a unique and easier to handle bottle with a new label designed to further boost the brands appeal to consumers,” he enthused.
He further disclosed that NBC has invested “more than N10 billion this year across the country to grow bottling capacity and improve the quality of our beverages. Part of the investment will go into ensuring health and safety as well as the environmental compatibility of our production and commercial operations.”
In her own remarks, Head External Affairs, Yanju Olomola explained that, “the company will deploy point-of-sale materials to draw consumers to specified outlets, as well as work closely with our dealers, distributors to achieve the desired results of taking out the old returnable bottles from the market. We will communicate and drive prompt glass exchange
She added, as part of ensuring formidable healthy environment to drive product innovation and customer satisfaction as the major player in the Nigerian competitive beverage industry, NBC has commissioned its modernized Benin Plant in Edo State recently”.
