OCEANIC Bank International Plc has been appointed by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to sell its newly introduced on-line Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application forms.
The bank also got the mandate of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to collect its revenue.
The unified tertiary matriculation examination, which is replacing the UME, is a single examination to be conducted once in a year for admission into universities, monotechnics, polytechnics and colleges of education in Nigeria.
Mr. John Aboh, managing director, Oceanic Bank stated this in Lagos, adding that the bank was selected among a few others after a rigorous screening exercise to determine the suitability of the banks that applied for appointment to serve as outlet for sale of the on-line examination application form.
He said with its appointment as a sale outlet for the form, the bank would be deploying its tradition of superior quality and efficient services using the latest technology to add value to the entire application process.
According to him, “students and other members of the public seeking to obtain the form would enjoy speedy and seamless service for which Oceanic Bank is known”.
“Oceanic Bank has been allotted a total of 100, 000 application forms for sale across the federation at the rate of N4, 400 each. Given the bank’s track record in the sale of forms for the board, it has also been granted a waiver of the statutory down payment, which other banks are compelled to pay as a condition to sell the application forms. JAMB said in its approval to the bank that it was waiving the down payment because of the bank’s drive and persistence in addition to goodwill it enjoys with the board”, he added.
The examination body said the sale of the form has commenced since last month and would end on Friday January 29, 2010. He promised that the form would be available at all branches of the bank.
In another development, Oceanic Bank has emerged one of the twelve banks selected by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to collect revenues on its behalf.
Consequently, the bank has opened Nigeria Immigration Service e-revenue collection account into which all payments for passports, visas and other services rendered by the NIS are to be made.
