    Lessors Set to Promote Professionalism

    Authentic leasing  practitioners under the  umbrella of Equipment  Leasing Association of Nigeria (ELAN) have  released the 2013 training  calendar  with  emphasis  on the  enhancement  of human  capacity in the industry  to ensure  that the business is professionally  done  according to internationally recognized  standard.


    ‘Leasing should be Part of Funding Windows’

    The Federal Government  has been urged  to make  leasing  companies part of windows  for the  disbursement  of various  sector intervention funds in  order to make  the leasing  industry  contribute  significantly  to the  economic  development  of  Nigeria
     Mr Andrew Efurhievwe, executive  Secretary of Equipment Leasing Assoication of Nigeria  (ELAN) who made this call in an interview  in lagos noted that reliance  on Deposit Money Banks  (DMBs) for the  funding of Leasing transaction has not helped  the industry.

    Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria (ELAN) has said that the emerging reforms and potentials in agriculture sector present immense opportunities  for lessors to actively participate through  leasing of  equipment to businesses across the entire agricultural value chain.

    … Lessors Still Contend with other Problems

    Beyond the tax challenges, the lessors are currently faced with other problems that daily threaten the growth and development of leasing industry in Nigeria.  According to the ELAN  as published in  LEASING TODAY  these are mainly in the  areas of funding , high  cost of  imported equipment, fraudulent practices of lessees regarding  default and  helplessness of the judiciary.
