The Oxfam in Nigeria, an international non governmental organisation (Ngo) is set to spend over 5million Euros (about N1billion) annually in its determination to eradicate poverty in the country.

THIS indeed may not be the best of times for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This is considering the gale of defections currently rocking the party that prides itself as the largest political party in Africa. The party which analysts have given ominous predictions in the recent past is fast loosing some of its key members across the country.

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan last week appointed six state governors as his campaign coordinators in the geo-political zones of the country ahead of his September 18 declaration for the presidential race in 2011. But as the coordinators are about to begin their jobs, some concerned Nigerians fear the selection of the six governors may constitute  an  albatross to the  President’s  ambition.

DESPITE  its pledge to be  an unbiased  umpire in the general  elections slated for 2011, the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec),  may face  hard knocks in ensuring a fair and free election.
This  has exemplified  by  the  strident  criticisms that have  trailed  the 2011 election timetable released last week  by Inec. The timetable and schedule of activities for the 2011 elections starting with the National Assembly election on January 15, 2011.

AMBASSADOR Yusuf Abubakar, one of the Kogi state’s governorship aspirant in the 2011 election has pledged to end the age long crisis that has ravaged Kogi Central hampering meaningful development in the state.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to contest the governorship  election in Anambra State slated for February next year whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) likes or not. The party said at its 49th  National Executive Committee(NEC) meeting last week  that  PDP is the only one known in the state and therefore  very  confident that  the election would swing in its favour.

 Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, governor of Delta State, has assured the people of the state that the Asaba cargo airport under construction will be completed next year, even as he said the construction for the second runway of Osubi Airstrip had already started.

NIGERIANS have been called upon to go closer to God, pray to and fear Him.  The call was made by some of our prominent leaders, particularly, to Muslims at the end of their Ramadan fast last week.   It is really great, heart-warming, and hope-inspiring that our leaders are waking up to enthrone God in the affairs of our nation.  Though we appear very religious outwardly as a people, we have no consideration and respect for the Almighty God.  Atrocities are rife in our nation.
